How To Have A Great Party
There are several ways to make a boring party into an exciting event. I wanted to give my guests an evening t remember so this is what I did. All it took was a little bit of ingenuity and the spirit to have some fun
The Reality Show Party.
This new years we wanted to do something a little different from the usual run of the mill parties. So this year we went all out and hosted a party with a reality show theme. Now the only thing left to do was to pick a reality show and we all though that ‘ Survivor ‘ would be perfect. With the party theme chosen, all we had to do was get the preparation underway. We wanted to be creative with the invitations so we used plant leaves and permanent markers instead of paper. The poem gave a few hints on the evening to come and warned everybody that you would need a lot of grit and guts to get through the evening but if you did there was a lot of fun in store. We knew the party would be a hit because we had 22 people walking in instead of the expected 15. Everybody was asked to get a clothes change along
Now we had planned a few activities for our guests. The first game was a lot of fun because our guests had to walk on a tight rope tied across a Jacuzzi filled with water and ice cubes. The tight rope walking round saw everybody take a dip in the icy cold water
The next round was equally tricky and it was going to test the endurance of our guests, it involved picking up your partner and run to the finish line but it involved running over a few old mattresses the look on the faces of the couples who fell down was priceless.
For the wits round every team was given an egg, two balloons and some scotch tape. Each team had to make their master piece in such a way that even after flinging it on the ground the egg was supposed to stay safe and unbroken .
We dint want to waste too much time cooking up a storm so the menu was simple. We decided early on that cooking an elaborate meal would not be possible with the all the party preparations that had to be done. So we served some lettuce salad as the first course, delicious barbeque for the main course and simple medley of vanilla ice cream and hot chocolate for desert. Even though we did usher the new year in with some champagne the drink for the evening was good ol beer.
By the time all 25 of us were done with the games it was about 10:30 we were drenched and rolling over laughing. This is when everybody used their clothes change and we grilled some juicy steak for dinner at the stroke of midnight after a heavy meal we decided to play one last game. Each team had to choose one member for this round. The game was simple the team member was supposed to eat as many cup cakes as he/ she could in a minute. But after the heavy dinner nobody could do more than 5.And that’s how we ushered in 2009. Read more about this and other topics at mymmoshop.
